• The Utah Valley University Forum on Engaged Reading presents the UVU Engaged Librarian Award annually to a public librarian whose contributions motivate and engage readers in a life-long love of reading. The awardee and nominees are recognized at the annual For the Love of Reading conference.

 

• Public librarians working with children or teens in the State of Utah are eligible. Nominees must currently be working full-time, or part-time. Nominees who have made significant contributions in the recent past may also be considered. A librarian may receive the award only once.

 

• Anyone may nominate a librarian for the Engaged Librarian Award.  Nominators should submit a completed nomination form and a letter of nomination (two pages maximum).  Letters should discuss how the nominee's accomplishments impact children’s or teen’s love of reading. Nominations will be accepted through Thursday, July 18. The awardee will be announced, and all nominees recognized, at a special dinner on September 19, 2013 at the Chateaux Resort, Deer Valley, Utah.

• The award recognizes excellence in librarianship, especially as it benefits children or teens and their enjoyment of reading and the library environment through innovative approaches to professional practice, programming, and/or teaching and learning. Additional factors include creativity, leadership, and service.

 

• The Selection Committee, with representatives from librarians and teachers, will recommend an awardee to the For the Love of Reading conference planning committee, which will make the final selection.

 

• February 2013: Award Committee Chair and Selection Committee appointed
• March 2013: Selection Committee issues call for nominations
• July 18, 2013: Deadline for nominations. NOTE: The application deadline has been extended to August 9, 2013.
• July-August 2013: Nomination review
• September 19, 2013: Awards dinner held to honor all nominees. Awardee announced and honored.
